The Broward College Kids & Teens College (KTC) allows students ages 8-15 years to engage in courses geared toward careers. The six-week program offers courses in quarter, half, and full days. Nursing Candlelight Ceremony

The next generation of nurses will be celebrated with a symbolic candlelight ceremony. The candlelight ceremony is done in the spirit of Florence Nightingale, who would take her oil lamp late at night to care for the sick during the Crimean War. The “Lady with the Lamp” served as a beacon of hope and whose legacy lives on as an iconic figure within the field. For more information, email cmohamme@broward.edu.

“A Mother’s Love” Opening Reception

The League of American Pen Women Fort Lauderdale chapter present “A Mother’s Love.” The exhibit showcases some of South Florida’s most accomplished artists. Works on display include photography, watercolor, acrylics, oils mixed media and sculpture. The opening reception will feature high tea with a twist. “Lawrence and Helen Tegeler Together”

This two-person exhibition features the work of Lawrence Tobe and Helen Tegeler, artists who abstract the natural world around us in a vivid color palette. Tobe’s large oil paintings bring environment and anthropology to life with invigorating patterns. Tegeler’s glass and fabric sculptures remind us of the transformations inherent in plant forms, and how the seed’s journey relates to our own lives. Bartosz Beda, Faraz Falahi, and Serena Stevens come from disparate backgrounds, but their work shares a unique view of the world. The images on display as part of “Beneath the Surface” capture glimpses of figures in their environments through loose and textured painted surfaces. The result is mysterious and engaging art that encourage reflection and evoke emotion. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public runs through June 21. Brazilian Music Institute Presents “Terra Brazil Meets Jazz”

"Terra Brazil Meets Jazz" is the culminating performance of the Brazilian Music Institute, an intensive week of musical instruction featuring outstanding Brazilian musicians presented by the University of Florida's School of Music in collaboration with Broward College. The event celebrates the diversity of Brazilian northeastern music with a concert combining styles of frevo de bloco, coco, maracatu, and embolada. Tickets start at $16 for the general public. Broward College Honors Professors and Adjunct Professors of the Year

Broward College recognized 10 outstanding faculty members as Professors and Adjunct Professors of the Year during the annual Employee Recognition Celebration. The award is given to innovative, talented educators who not only excel in the classroom but inspire students, impact their lives in a meaningful way, and serve as role models for colleagues across the College.
