Directed by Lawrence Bauman, this one act musical comedy melodrama tells the story of innocent Nellie Quackenbush, who has been lured to the big city by the villain Stafford Blackman with the promise of marriage and wealth. Upon her return home she is haunted by her past. The show includes comic songs such as "You Do Right by Nell," "No Mother to Guide Her," and "The Villain Still Pursued Her.” Tickets for the each performance are $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors, faculty and children. Step Forward for Kids 5K Annual Fundraiser

Broward College is hosting the Step Forward for Kids 5K Walk for Family Central. This annual community event and fundraiser also will include a free health fair sponsored by the RN-BSN Honor Society with free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar and vision. Proceeds will benefit Family Central, an organization that promotes children’s success by providing quality family support and educational services.

Take-Out Tuesday Tackles Religious Tolerance
Take-out Tuesday, a part of The Village Square programming, kicked off its season with panelists taking on the topic of “My Big Fat Gay Marriage: Finding Middle Ground with Religious Conservatives” at the Willis Holcombe Center in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Speakers included Rabbi Edwin Farber, Beth Torah a Benny Rok; Dr. Abdul Samra, Islamic Center of Miami; Nadine Smith, CEO of Equality Florida, and Howard Simon, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida. Attendees took in the spirited discussion with their favorite take-out dinner.
