Greetings! Since 1972, the North Campus at Broward College has been a beacon of hope for many. I am happy to welcome you to our vibrant campus and ask that you heed the call to commit to complete, get involved, and maximize use of our support services.
Commit to complete!
I am delighted to lead a team of dedicated and service-oriented professionals in sustaining and growing transformational opportunities that enrich the academic, social, and economic outcomes for our community. On a regular basis, we aim to provide access to high-demand programs that enable students to meet their academic and career goals in an accelerated fashion. As such, we strategically provide bridges to success using research-driven and student-focused high impact practices that couple access with success. For example, mathematics faculty have developed an alternative pathway to help accelerate students to complete their college-level mathematics courses via a non-algebra pathway.
Over the years, we’ve been involved with creative and innovative partnerships that benefit our community, state and nation as well. We are extremely proud of our ability to be nimble and responsive to the needs of the workforce and the economy. We’ve helped alleviate a shortage of nurses and other trained healthcare workers through partnerships with Broward Health, Memorial Hospital and other hospital systems in the county. Please be sure to visit our academic advisement department and the career center to complete a career assessment and learn about career pathways to help you make an informed decision about which academic programs are best for you from a certificate to associate/bachelor degree programs and beyond. Mapping out your educational plan is critical to your graduation.
Research has shown that student involvement plays a role in student success. Getting involved in faculty-led initiatives or student organizations will enrich your experience at BC and serve you well into your future as you’re sure to enhance your classroom experience, learn about other cultures and develop entrepreneurial, leadership, and teambuilding skills. I am thrilled to emphasize that our faculty demonstrate their commitment to your development both in and out of the classroom. Across multiple departments, our faculty bring in scholars to give personalized/specialized workshops in their respective disciplines to discuss their fields, career options, research topics, and more!
Use our support services!
We are committed to supporting your success and have established multiple support services. Individual or group tutoring for a variety of courses is available face-to-face and online. Be sure to visit our Academic Success Center in the library (Bldg 62) and connect with us on social media where you may find your professor on YouTube.
We also provide child care services on campus. In 2014 we proudly opened our doors to the only laboratory school for ages 1 - 5 in the Broward County. With low teacher to student ratios, affordable tuition rates, cutting edge technology, and a national best practices curriculum, every child has the opportunity to get a superior education. Knowing that empirical data indicate that a high quality early childhood education can close achievement gaps, we are BC proud in making a difference in the lives of our Little Seahawk Scholars.
I hope that you’ll find that we are committed to transforming lives and fostering a community of devoted professionals ready to motivate and move you to use a growth mindset throughout life’s journey. Again, welcome to North Campus and I hope as you join the Seahawk Nation, you will find your path to success!
