Trustee Mike Rump earned his Bachelors in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1982. He immediately began his career as an insurance adjuster in Houston, Texas and moved to Broward County in 1993 to help victims of Hurricane Andrew rebuild their properties and lives. Helping victims of Hurricane Andrew hardened his desire to help others, particularly those who are disadvantaged. Shortly after arriving in Broward County, Mike earned the General Adjuster designation, making him one of the youngest General Adjusters in the nation and was awarded several top-adjuster designations.
In 1996, Mike founded Continental Public Adjusters, Inc. and has successfully settled thousands of claims since, ranging from small homeowner claims up to multi-million dollar losses. He has built a reputation as a fierce negotiator and as one of the leaders in the public adjusting industry.
Mike is the current President of the Florida Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (FAPIA) and has previously served as the Treasurer, Vice-President, and Ethics Chairman for this same organization. Mike also is the current Chair of the Legislative Committee for FAPIA, in which he helps to formulate and push for legislation that is beneficial to his industry. Mike was also recently appointed to the Board of the Florida Association for Insurance Reform (FAIR), which is an educational organization that educates both Florida consumers and insurance industry stakeholders about the effects of insurance public policy.
He is an active member of the community and was twice elected as President of a county-wide business networking organization. His older son has special needs and Mike is passionately involved with the special needs population.
