Broward College to Commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and legacy, Broward College will host a series of special events before and after the national holiday on Jan. 20. All events are free. (Note: Broward College will be closed — no classes, all offices closed — on Monday, Jan. 20.)

“Eyes on the Prize” tells the definitive story of the civil rights era from the point of view of the ordinary men and women whose extraordinary actions launched a movement that changed the fabric of American life, and embodied a struggle whose reverberations continue to be felt today. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Luncheon

Broward College’s North Campus will host a luncheon to honor and remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event will include inspirational stories, videos and student’s perspectives of King’s influence. For more information, call 954-201-2009.

This revealing documentary uses rare and largely unseen film footage and photographs to explore the life and legacy of one of the most influential Americans of the 20th Century. Broward College’s Central Campus Student Life Department and the African Student Union will host a luncheon to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event will include a keynote speech by Lulrick Balzora, Ph.D., associate dean of the social sciences department and religion professor.
