Services & Eligibility

The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is the fourth of eight federal TRIO programs and was authorized by the Higher Education Amendments of 1972. Broward College received a grant to administer the EOC program which opened its doors in 2017.

The objective of the EOC program is to increase postsecondary education enrollment among Broward County adults. We work on behalf of all postsecondary institutions. We provide direct support and resources to assist Broward County adults with overcoming academic and financial barriers to beginning (or returning to complete) their postsecondary education.

The program also provides services to improve the financial and economic literacy of participants, in order to improve their likelihood of success.





We provide the following academic services to assist participants enroll in postsecondary education:

  • We can help you set and achieve your educational goals.
  • We provide assistance with completion of admissions applications for any college, university, technical, vocational or career program in any location.
  • We can help you to prepare for standardized testing that may be required for admission.



We provide the following services to assist participants with matters related to their educational finances:

  • We provide assistance with completing financial aid applications, and with finding additional sources of funding to pay for postsecondary education. 
  • We assist with resolving past issues that may affect eligibility, including Satisfactory Academic Progress issues and student loan default.
  • We provide financial literacy information to increase participants' likelihood of future success.



We provide the following services to aid in the career development of our participants:

  • We provide college and career guidance and information.
  • We provide assistance with identifying the right postsecondary educational opportunity to meet your career goals.
  • We can assist in the selection of a major to support your career interests.





To participate in this FREE educational program, a potential program participant should meet the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States (or provide documentation of intent to become a permanent resident)

  • Be at least nineteen years old (may be younger in special circumstances)

    • Veterans are eligible at any age, provided all other criteria are met

  • Express a desire to enroll in an adult education program or a program of postsecondary education

  • Preference is given to prospective students whose parents have not completed a 4-year (bachelor's) degree and whose income falls within federal guidelines


  • Obtain three insurance licenses exam-free
  • Complete your degree in only 24 months
  • Earn your A.S. in Vision Care.
