France

Comparative Education in France and the USA

Program

With this BC faculty-led study abroad program, students will have an amazing opportunity to travel to both Paris (the capital) and Aix-en-Provence (southern France). Students will be immersed in the French language, culture, and cuisine (rated one of the best in the world). The program is also designed to expose students to the French K-12 educational system and its unique educational philosophies and practices. After participation in this program, a student's world viewpoint will radically change for the better, they will dip into the French/European perspective related to K-12 education, and they will analyze both the similarities and differences between the French and American educational systems. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Locations

Paris

Paris, the "City of Light," is a dreamscape where timeless elegance meets vibrant modern life. Picture yourself strolling along the Seine River, gazing at the Eiffel Tower sparkling against the night sky, or wandering the art-filled halls of the Louvre. This city pulses with romance, history, and creativity—from the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral to the bohemian charm of Montmartre. With its quaint cafés, world-renowned cuisine, and charming boutiques, Paris offers an unforgettable experience around every corner. Embrace the magic of Paris and discover why it has inspired artists, writers, and dreamers for centuries.

Aix-en-Provence

Aix-en-Provence is a charming gem in the heart of Provence, where the art of living meets the soul of the French countryside. Imagine sunlit streets lined with plane trees, bustling markets bursting with lavender, olives, and local wines, and quaint squares filled with the melodies of street musicians. Known for its stunning fountains and vibrant arts scene, Aix is the birthplace of painter Paul Cézanne, and his spirit lingers in the town’s picturesque landscapes and the nearby Sainte-Victoire Mountain. Whether you are exploring historic architecture, savoring Provençal cuisine, or soaking in the relaxed pace of life, Aix-en-Provence invites you to experience the heart of southern France.
