As of August 24, 2015, Broward College implemented a tobacco-free policy, which also prohibits the use of e-cigarettes and any smokeless tobacco products. The tobacco free policy will be in effect for all indoor spaces, outdoor locations, including parking lots, and garages.
For those sidewalks adjacent to streets not controlled by Broward College, we ask that individuals respect the pedestrians and our efforts to provide a healthier environment by refraining from tobacco use on those sidewalks.
As of January 1, 2015, 1014 other colleges and universities have gone 100% tobacco free.
The goal is to make Broward College a healthy place to work and learn. Designated areas don’t support the goal of the policy: to promote a healthy environment.
Broward College believes compliance is everyone’s business. If you feel comfortable doing so you can approach the violator in a kind and compassionate way letting them know that the college has a new tobacco free policy and that tobacco use is prohibited on campus. If you are not comfortable approaching the violator, you can anonymously report the violation online by using our violations reporting page. Please include as many details about the violation as possible to allow our Tobacco Free Ambassadors to in areas where violations are occurring so they can help to notify violators of the new policy.
