What is CNC Manufacturing?
CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machining uses computers to control tools, such as lathes, mills, routers and grinders. These machines are programmed to produce precise components used in a variety of products.
Programming can be done using CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing) programs and are loaded into the CNC control. The control system gives direction to the automated CNC machine.
CNC Manufacturing training is available through the Associates in Engineering Technology program, technical certifications and continuing education. Those who choose the associates degree will take all required basic courses and the three CNC Manufacturing specialization courses. The specialization courses are also available for certification only and do not require the associate's degree.

The CNC certificate program requires 15 credits. Course are completed in 8-week sessions. Students can complete the specialization with 12 credits in as few as 24 weeks or within six months.

The certification is designed for individuals with an interest in manufacturing and machining, or professionals already working in the field who want to advance their career and increase earning potential by attaining certifications. Courses will also give students planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering a better understanding of the programming involved to direct an automated CNC machine.
You will gain a broad-based knowledge about the multi-step processes to successfully troubleshoot and solve problems beyond the scope of typical machine operators.
Students will have the opportunity to learn through a blended classroom (both online and through a classroom setting), desktop mills and lathes, computer side control panel systems, and through hands-on workshops. Throughout each class, students will not only have the opportunity to earn Broward College credit, but also nationally recognized industry certifications using programs such as NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) and MSSC (Manufacturing Skills Standards Council).
