Welcome to the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP)

As an advocate for aspiring health professionals within the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP), we are dedicated to cultivating the future generation of healthcare leaders. Our mission is to offer extensive support and opportunities to individuals driven to make a positive impact in the healthcare field, irrespective of their backgrounds. HCOP serves as your gateway to a rewarding career by providing guidance, resources, and mentorship to assist you on your journey toward becoming a healthcare professional.

Eligibility

  • Students currently enrolled in high school (11th and 12th grade only)
  • Students with a 2.5 GPA or greater
  • Must be a citizen, non-citizen national of the United States, an individual lawfully admitted for permanent residence to the United States

Benefits

  • Students will get paid $15 an hour for the 6-week program
  • Free transportation to Broward College
  • Training in the Health Science Simulation Center
  • Assistance with financial aid and college enrollment procedures.
  • Academic support services, academic enrichment, and skill development.
  • Monthly meetings/workshops focused on financial aid planning, health disparities, stress management, public health, etc

HCOP High School Summer Program Application

Pre-Matriculation

Students currently in the health science pathway but not yet admitted to a Limited Access program.

Eligibility

  • Broward College students interested in a Health Science Limited Access Program.
  • Students with a 2.5 GPA or greater
  • Must be a citizen, non-citizen national of the United States, an individual lawfully admitted for permanent residence to the United States

Benefits

  • Students will get paid $15 an hour for a 4-6 week virtual course.
  • Formal and informal opportunities for counseling, mentoring, and group support.
  • Assistance and guidance towards a limited access program
  • Academic support services, academic enrichment, and skill development.
  • Monthly meetings/workshops focused on financial aid planning, health disparities, and stress management.

Application timeline: We are no longer accepting applications for the 2024 Summer Pre-Matriculation Program. Applications for the 2025 Program will reopen in the 2025 Spring Term. (Limited Seats Available)

HCOP Pre-Matriculation Application

Ambassadors

Students currently admitted to an Allied Health Science program.

Eligibility

  • Broward College students are currently enrolled in a Health Science Limited Access Program.
  • Students with a 2.5 GPA or greater
  • Must be a citizen, non-citizen national of the United States, an individual lawfully admitted for permanent residence to the United States

Benefits

  • 16 hours of individualized or group mentoring.
  • Students will get paid $15 to showcase their work each term ($90 max).
  • Reimbursement of Complio fees (with proof of payment).
  • $2800 Tuition Scholarship awarded at the end of the term (in addition to financial aid).
  • Academic support services, academic enrichment, and skill development.
  • Weekly meetings/workshops.
