According to Florida State Rule 6A-10.02413, degree seeking students must satisfy the civic literacy requirement based on their degree program and current effective term. Speak with your advisor to determine how this requirement applies to you.

The "Pass a Course" and "Pass an Assessment" requirements are only for the 2021-2022 and beyond cohort of the civic literacy requirement.

Several CBE options are available to meet both the “Pass a Course” and "Pass an Assessment" requirements in lieu of taking AMH2020 or POS2041 and the FCLE, including:

• CLEP: American Government (min. score = 50)
• AP Government and Politics: United States (min. score = 3)
• AP United States History (min. score = 4)

Any of these 3 CBE options if passed will only satisfy both the “Pass a Course” and "Pass an Assessment" requirements. 

Note: AP is only offered during high school to students within specific courses. AP is not available at Broward College or for students to take at the postsecondary level.

AICE, AP, and IB are only offered during high school to students within specific courses. AICE, AP, and IB are not available at Broward College or for students to take at the postsecondary level with the possible exception of high school students taking courses at Broward College for dual enrollment or college academy purposes. Once a student graduates from high school, these options are no longer available.

FCLE results while taken in high school since October 2021 will be displayed on the students official high school transcript.

Instructions on how to send official transcripts electronically via the FASTER system are available on the Score Reports webpage in the FCLE tab. 

Students who graduated in June 2022 or later may have taken the FCLE during high school in a Florida public high school. 

Unofficially, you can check your paper high school transcript to find the FCLE score recorded: The look and display of this information will vary by school district. The example below is from BCPS.

  • Test Name: CIV
  • Subject Content: CIVICS
  • Score Type: SS
  • Score Range: 0-80 (will display as a two-digit score)
