The Broward College Testing and Assessment Centers offer exams to meet each of the competency requirements as options for degree seeking students. Please check with your Academic Advisor to discuss these requirements and your program of study.
The Computer Skills Placement (CSP) assesses students' digital literacy. It is comprised of multiple-choice questions taken online in an on-campus or remote proctored environment.
No credit is awarded for the successful completion of the CSP. Successful completion will only satisfy the digital literacy requirement.

Due to the need for a video review of each remote testing session, score entry for all remote tests will take a minimum of 3 business days.
The Brigham Young University (BYU) Foreign Language Achievement Testing Services (FLATS) is a foreign language competency test. The FLATS is an online exam that includes the following proficiency areas; listening, reading, and grammar.
The BYU FLATS is available to take at all BC Testing and Assessment Centers.
No credit is awarded for sucessful completion of the FLATS. Sucessful completion will only satisfy the foreign language competency requirement.

CLEP: Spanish Language, French Language, and German Language
The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Writing Proficiency Test (WPT) is a foreign language competency test. The ACTFL WPT is a web-based, proctored, standardized test of the global assessment of functional writing ability in a language.
The ACTFL WPT is not available to take at a BC Testing and Assessment Center.
No credit is awarded for sucessful completion of the ACTFL WPT. Sucessful completion will only satisfy the foreign language competency requirement.
Testing fees are available on the ACTFL website when registering for the exam.

The Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE) is a State of Florida-developed assessment that measures a student's civic literacy competency based on the four (4) competencies listed below. The exam became available on November 9, 2021, at Broward College.
The FCLE is available to take at all BC Testing and Assessment Centers. All BC students must take the FCLE at a BC Testing and Assessment Center.
Successful completion of the FCLE will satisfy the Civic Literacy assessment requirement.

The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) has not yet released official test prep materials for the Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE). However, the competencies covered on the exam are listed below. The state does have some general resources listed on its FLDOE Civic Literacy page that cover various aspects of the competencies in a more general fashion. Once the official study material is available, it will be posted on the LibGuide page below.
