Description: This program provides students with the skills and driving experience necessary to thrive in this career by obtaining a nationally recognized, in-demand Commercial Driving License.
This is a CDL Class A, 160 hour, 4-week course, M-F from 7a.m. – 4 p.m.
Prerequisites: High School or GED, DOT Physical, CDL Permit, Driving Record, Driving License, Drug Screening.

Description: This program prepares students to perform EKGs and includes information on the anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography, and stress testing. This comprehensive 50-hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the ASPT - Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam and other National Certification Exams. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands-on labs including an introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement, and other clinical practices.
Prerequisite: High School Diploma or GED. A background check, drug screening, and other requirements may be required.
Note: The first day of class will be via Zoom. There are 3 days in-person: 03/12, 03/19, 03/26.

Description: This course prepares students to understand and use electronic records in medical practice. Course reviews the implementation and management of electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems and maintaining the medical, legal, accreditation, and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record.
Prerequisites: High School Diploma or GED. A background check, drug screening, and other requirements may be required.

Description: The purpose of the GED® program is to prepare students to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Official GED® Tests and get their State of Florida High School Diploma. Focus is on RLA, MATH, SCIENCE, AND SOCIAL STUDIES.
Classes provide basic skills instruction in reading, language, and/or mathematics and critical thinking skills to prepare students for GED® preparation, postsecondary education, and/or employment.

Description: Inventory management is critical to the overall success of the supply chain. Therefore, all supply chain professionals must have at least a basic understanding of the role, cost, and benefit of inventories. This track provides students with an understanding of the basics of inventory management and control, so they can be effective contributors to the inventory-related aspects of their roles in supply chain management domains. Key elements of this track include: the importance and use of inventory in the supply chain, introduction to the different types of inventories, techniques for effectively managing and controlling inventory levels, the relationship between forecasting and inventory management, and financial impacts of inventory investments. The goal of this certification track is to prepare students to successfully pass the Inventory Management certification examination. Content for this certification track was developed by the LINS in Supply Chain Management Consortium. Credentials are awarded by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).

Description: This course is a continuation of our Six Sigma series: Learn Six Sigma GREEN concepts, strategies, tools, and techniques used in process improvement projects. Course modules explain key foundational Six Sigma steps, and DMAIC methodology, and demonstrate how a Six Sigma approach can benefit organizations in varied business sectors. Course assignments support the comprehension of process improvement through exercises involving the history of Six Sigma, Process Variances, Managing Quality, how to begin Six Sigma projects, Organizational Roles and Responsibilities, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) methodology, DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, and Verify), and Project Communication. Develop skills to support process improvement projects as either a Project Leader or a Team Member.

Patient Care Technicians work alongside doctors, nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare providers to oversee and monitor patients.

Description: This course introduces students to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Customer Service Operations (CSO), focusing on practices and technologies used to manage and analyze customer interactions and data. The aim is to enhance business relationships, improve customer retention, and drive sales growth. Students will learn about key CRM and CSO elements, including customer data collection across various channels (e.g., website, phone, social media) and the use of systems that provide customer service staff with detailed customer information. The course also covers oral communication skills relevant to CSO.

Description: This course enables students to understand the various functions involved in the operation of a warehouse. This certificate track course includes: the role of warehousing in the supply chain, storage and handling techniques performance metrics, inventory management, customer service considerations, and safety concerns across various types of distribution facilities.
Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 or older for most Broward UP courses. Healthcare courses require applicants to have completed a high school diploma or GED. Our Adult Education Program can assist you if you have not completed a high school diploma or GED.
Funding: Through grant funding, Broward UP offers free courses and workshops to qualifying students who reside in the following zip codes: 33309, 33311, 33313, 33314, 33319, 33023, 33020, 33069, 33064, 33441, and 33065, and those referred by community partners. Certain restrictions apply.
Other internal and external funding opportunities may be available for eligible students outside these areas. The Career Pathway Navigator team assists students with determining available opportunities.
